Alex Murdaugh told his trial Thursday that he will take the stand to deny blasting his wife and youngest son to death.
“I am going to testify — I want to testify,” the disgraced legal scion told Judge Clifton Newman at the start of proceedings Thursday.
He made the risky decision during a late night meeting with his legal team, sources told the Post and Courier.
Murdaugh faces 30 years to life if convicted of murdering wife Maggie, 52, and son Paul, 22, in their South Carolina holiday home in June 2021.
He will take the stand later Thursday after the trial hears “short” testimony from another witness first, the hearing was told.
