Here are some nuggets from Yankees’ spring training on Sunday:
DJ keeps rolling
DJ Lemahieu’s strong spring continued with a pair of singles in the 5-3 loss to the Orioles at Steinbrenner Field.
The infielder is 10-for-25 (.400) in nine Grapefruit League games.
Evade route
Utilityman Oswaldo Cabrera, playing left field, misplayed a fifth-inning fly ball from Kyle Stowers into an RBI double.
Cabrera took a poor route, and the ball sailed just over his glove and to the wall.
Caught my eye
Center fielder Aaron Hicks stole a hit from Stowers in the fourth inning, when Hicks sprinted in and to his right to make a diving catch.
Two batters later, Hicks ranged back and made an over-his-shoulder, running catch to retire Josh Lester.
Without Harrison Bader, Hicks will be an option in center field.
Monday’s schedule
The Yankees will be off. They next play Tuesday, against the Tigers, at 1:05 p.m. at Steinbrenner Field.
