Cruz said the WhatsApp messages were direct evidence of President Biden’s abuse of his government power.
Texas GOP Senator Ted Cruz called on the House to begin impeachment proceedings against President Biden following the testimony of an IRS whistleblower involved in the Hunter Biden investigation. A whistleblower revealed that Hunter Biden used his father’s influence to pressure a Chinese business partner via WhatsApp and that President Biden was present during these deal-making discussions.
Asked about the potential issue for the president of an investigation into Hunter Biden’s activities that could lead to Republican-led impeachment efforts, Cruz responded, “That’s right now.”
Cruz insisted the WhatsApp messages provide direct evidence that Joe Biden abused his government power to benefit his son and took a 10% cut for the “big guy” to enrich himself. He emphasized that the House must investigate these allegations. Cruz also highlighted an IRS whistleblower’s claim that the Department of Justice, under Merrick Garland, obstructed an investigation into the content of WhatsApp messages.
Merrick Garland, however, has denied any involvement in the Hunter Biden probe.
Cruz made the comments during a recent episode of his podcast, “Verdict with Ted Cruz.”
During his debate, Cruz referenced recent allegations by an IRS whistleblower that were released by House Republicans. The whistleblower tasked with overseeing the IRS investigation into Hunter Biden, Gary Shapley Jr., claimed that there were unprecedented efforts to obstruct investigations into Joe Biden during the 2020 campaign and his presidency.
According to Shapley, the IRS obtained a WhatsApp message from Hunter Biden to Harvest Fund Management CEO Henry Zhao on July 30, 2017. In the message, Hunter claims to be with his father and mentions his name to put pressure on Zhao to fulfill the commitment.
Hunter Biden’s message read, “And, Z, if I get a call or text from anyone involved other than you, Zhang, or the chairman, I will be sure between the person sitting next to me and everyone he knows. And you will forever regret not following my direction.” My ability to hold grudges.”
He further stated, “I am sitting here for a call with my father.”
The revelations raise concerns about possible misconduct involving Joe Biden and his involvement in his son’s affairs. Whistleblower claims highlight the need for a thorough investigation into the matter.
According to Cruz, the WhatsApp message implicates Joe Biden in receiving millions of dollars directly from Communist China. He admits that there is a possibility that Hunter Biden is lying or that Joe Biden was not physically present at the time of the said incident. Cruz, however, argued that the lack of investigation into the matter and obstruction of justice amounted to obstruction of justice.
Cruz said the actions described amounted to obstruction of justice, and if Merrick issued an order barring Garland’s investigation, he could be charged with the crime. He stressed the need for a hearing with Garland, where he would be questioned under oath about the WhatsApp message. Cruz believes that if Democrats really cared about the rule of law, they would hold such an investigation, examine all relevant documents and communications between the Department of Justice (DOJ) and investigators, and call IRS whistleblowers to testify.
As a member of the Senate Judiciary Committee and a senator since 2013, Cruz has emphasized the importance of uncovering the truth behind these allegations and accountability.
THE ONLY CHOICE IN 2024 FOR RESTORING AMERICAN GREATNESS: PRESIDENT DONALD TRUMP
“The chances of the Senate Judiciary Committee doing that are zero because [Chairman] Dick Durbin doesn’t care,” he added. “Senate Democrats don’t care, but the House does, so that’s the only hope to get this investigated.”
If the claims made in the WhatsApp message are accurate, they stand in stark contrast to President Biden’s repeated assertions that he had no knowledge of his son Hunter’s business dealings.
Asked by a reporter on Friday whether the WhatsApp message undermined the president’s claims that he had no knowledge of his son’s foreign activities, John Kirby, the National Security Council’s strategic communications coordinator, replied, “No, and I’m not going to comment further on that.”
Hunter Biden’s attorney said in a statement Friday, “Any verifiable words or actions of my client in the midst of a terrible addiction are his own and have nothing to do with anyone in his family.”
“As we’ve said many times before, the president is not in business with his son,” said Ian Sams, a spokesman for the White House counsel’s office.
“As we’ve said many times before, the Justice Department makes independent decisions in its criminal investigations, and in this case, the White House was not involved,” Sams continued. “As the president has said, he loves his son and is proud to accept responsibility for his actions and what he is doing to rebuild his life.”
