Whether you’re in the camp that adores it or the one that prefers less of it on game day, Taylor Swift’s influence on the NFL this season has been undeniably captivating.

The spotlight is largely on the Kansas City Chiefs because of her connection with the star Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce.

However, players across the league seem to appreciate Swift’s contribution to bringing new viewership to the NFL.

“She has a lot of fans. She’s got a following, and many people support her,” remarked Los Angeles Chargers safety Derwin James Jr. during an interview with Fox News’ Larry Fink at the 2024 NFL Honors red carpet.

Not everyone in the NFL is fond of the attention Swift brings to the league. Players like New Orleans Saints safety Tyrann Mathieu acknowledge this reality, but they also recognize that criticism often accompanies fame.

“I think various people hold various opinions. I believe it’s beneficial for the league,” Mathieu stated. “The increased viewership and discussions surrounding football, regardless of the reasons, ultimately benefit us.”

For some, such as Atlanta Falcons standout rookie running back Bijan Robinson, being a Taylor Swift fan enhances the experience.

“I think it’s pretty awesome. I’m a Taylor Swift fan,” he expressed with a smile. “Even her presence here and being showcased in the NFL’s spotlight is pretty cool. I understand not everyone is on board with it. But for me, my friends, and my family, being her fans, all we can do is appreciate it. Be happy for Travis Kelce and her and everything they’ve contributed to the NFL.”

Chiefs owner Clark Hunt might be the most enthusiastic supporter among them. With his team making it to the Super Bowl for the fourth time in the last five seasons, a whole new demographic of fans has joined Chiefs Kingdom.

“Yeah, it’s been incredibly exciting and quite unexpected,” Hunt remarked. “We have a lot of ‘Swifties’ in our household who are huge fans of hers, and it’s been really enjoyable to witness her relationship with Travis blossom. We’re thrilled for both of them. Consequently, we’ve gained a whole bunch of new fans, and that’s been fantastic. Not just here in North America, but really across the globe.”

Former New York Giants wide receiver Victor Cruz commented, “I think this is a unique situation, a unique experience we’re encountering with Taylor Swift and all the energy surrounding it. Ultimately, it’s positive. With more attention on the league, there’s increased focus on what we do.”

“More people paying attention to the intricacies of the game and getting acquainted with players they may have overlooked previously. It’s beneficial to have fresh perspectives and new enthusiasm for the game, regardless of where it originates.”
