According to Russia, its air defenses successfully repelled an attack on the capital city by five Ukrainian drones on Tuesday. Authorities now contend that Ukraine could not have carried out the assault without assistance from Western allies.

The Russian foreign ministry stated, as reported by Agence France-Presse, “These attacks would not have been possible without the support provided to the Kyiv regime by the US and its NATO partners.”

Furthermore, the ministry claimed that the West is “training drone operators and providing the necessary intelligence to carry out such acts of aggression.”

According to Russian officials, their air defenses on the outskirts of Moscow successfully intercepted and shot down four out of five drones that were approaching the capital. The remaining drone was reportedly disabled through electronic interference. Ukrainian authorities, who typically do not comment on attacks within Russian territory, have not taken responsibility for the incident.

City officials have confirmed that no individuals were injured in the attack.

The U.S. The State Department has not responded immediately to a request for comment.

The attack on Moscow occurs amid a broader counteroffensive led by Ukrainian forces, aiming to repel the Russian invaders. Ukrainian forces have successfully reclaimed territories that were captured by Russia since the invasion began on February 24, 2022.
