Camilla says King Charles finds comfort in ‘letters and messages’ from the public
Queen Camilla is providing an update on King Charles following Buckingham Palace’s announcement of his cancer diagnosis earlier this week.
On Thursday, Camilla resumed her royal duties and attended Salisbury Cathedral for an evening of music in support of local charities.
“He is doing remarkably well given the circumstances,” Camilla said, as reported by the Daily Mail. “He is deeply moved by the letters and messages of support pouring in from all over. It’s truly heartening.”

On Monday, the palace issued a statement disclosing Charles’ current health status following treatment for an enlarged prostate.
“During The King’s recent hospital procedure for benign prostate enlargement, a separate issue of concern was noted,” Buckingham Palace said in a statement. “Subsequent diagnostic tests have identified a form of cancer.”
Charles has been “advised by doctors to postpone public-facing duties” while undergoing a series of “regular treatments,” a statement from the palace said. The specific cancer diagnosis received by His Majesty remains unclear.
“Throughout this period, His Majesty will continue to carry out State business and official paperwork as usual,” the statement added.
“The King is grateful to his medical team for their prompt intervention, made possible by his recent hospital procedure. He maintains a positive outlook regarding his treatment and eagerly anticipates returning to his full public duties as soon as possible.”
The announcement stated that Charles chose to disclose his diagnosis to “prevent speculation and in the hope it may assist public understanding for all those around the world who are affected by cancer.”
Camilla has been by the king’s side throughout his recent health challenges.
One day before announcing his cancer diagnosis, the king made his first public appearance since receiving treatment for an enlarged prostate. The British monarch waved to well-wishers outside St. Mary Magdalene Church near Sandringham, accompanied by his wife.
Prince William has also remained dedicated to his royal duties.
Early Wednesday morning, the Prince of Wales resumed his duties for the first time since his father’s cancer diagnosis was disclosed. It was also the initial royal appearance for William since his wife Kate Middleton’s scheduled abdominal surgery.
William hosted an investiture ceremony at Windsor Castle, honoring exceptional achievements through six orders of chivalry and two orders of merit. Recipients were appointed officers of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire or officers of the Order of the British Empire.
Last week, Kate returned home after spending nearly two weeks in the hospital for abdominal surgery.
Kensington Palace shared the news in a statement obtained by Fox News Digital, mentioning that the Princess of Wales is “making good progress.”
“The Prince and Princess wish to extend a heartfelt thank you to the entire team at The London Clinic, particularly the devoted nursing staff, for the care they have provided,” the statement read. “The Wales family remains appreciative of the well wishes they have received from across the globe.”
Following the advice of her doctors, the princess will refrain from resuming her public duties until Easter, palace officials announced.
Also on Wednesday, William was accompanied by Tom Cruise, a longtime friend of the monarchy, at London’s Air Ambulance Charity. During the event, William expressed his gratitude, stating that he “really appreciates everyone’s kindness” following King Charles’ diagnosis.
