Presidents Biden, Clinton, and Obama to appear at Stephen Colbert’s lavish fundraiser

The fundraiser for all three presidents is supposed to bring in over $10 million

President Biden, along with former Presidents Barack Obama and Bill Clinton, is slated to join liberal late-night host Stephen Colbert for a fundraiser that aims to generate over $10 million.

Scheduled for March 28 in New York City, the event offers tickets starting at approximately $250. Attendees can opt for photos with all three presidents for $100,000, while those who donate $250,000 or $500,000 will gain access to separate functions with the Democratic trio.

Colbert, a staunch supporter of the Democratic Party and host of “The Late Show” since 2015, is expected to lead a conversation with all three presidents, with over 3,000 attendees anticipated for the event.

“This is poised to be the most significant fundraising event in Joe Biden’s political career. I dare say, it could be the largest fundraising event in Democratic Party history. It’s also a historic occasion, marking the first time three Democratic presidents have come together for a campaign fundraiser,” remarked Chris Korge, national finance chair for the Biden Victory Fund, to NBC News.

The highly anticipated prize at the event is expected to be a photo opportunity with all three Democratic presidents.

Stephen Colbert’s involvement in the fundraiser underscores the significant role his show plays in advancing the Democratic Party’s agenda. Known for hosting Democrats and liberal journalists for supportive interviews, Colbert’s participation highlights the symbiotic relationship between late-night television and political activism.

During a recent late-night interview with Seth Meyers, President Biden addressed voter concerns regarding his age.

“Well, a couple of things. Number one, you gotta take a look at the other guy. He’s about as old as I am, but he can’t remember his wife’s name,” Biden quipped, eliciting cheers from the audience.

According to a report by The Associated Press in February, the president has held only 33 news conferences throughout his first three years in office. Additionally, he has granted just 86 formal interviews with the press. In comparison, during his first three years in office, former President Obama gave 422 interviews.

In 2022, Colbert conducted interviews with at least 13 different elected Democratic lawmakers and 13 officials from the Biden and Obama administrations, ahead of the midterm elections.

In 2022, the late-night host also featured at least 15 different explicitly liberal journalists or satirists on his show. Guests included former “Full Frontal” host Samantha Bee, MSNBC’s Joy Reid, 1619 Project founder Nikole Hannah-Jones, and MSNBC’s Chris Hayes, among others.
