Kelly Clarkson also followed her doctor’s guidance to lose weight.
Kelly Clarkson has been candid about her weight loss journey, and she recently provided context to her lifestyle changes during a conversation on her talk show.
During the exchange, Clarkson and her guest, actor Kevin James, exchanged compliments and remarked on each other’s impressive appearances.
“Well, I was told I was pre-diabetic,” Clarkson confessed. “That was literally what happened. I wasn’t shocked. I was a tiny bit overweight,” the singer shared.
“They were like, you’re pre-diabetic, you’re right on the borderline. I was like, ‘But I’m not there yet!’,” she jokingly remarked.
“Then I waited two years,” she mentioned, highlighting her delay in taking action. It was only after the situation progressed that she decided to “do something about it.”
Last month, the “Since U Been Gone” singer revealed that she had been following doctors’ advice, leading to a reduction in weight. In an interview with People magazine, she shared insights into her diet, stating, “I eat a healthy mix.”
Clarkson explained that she dropped weight because she started listening to her doctor, acknowledging that she’s been successful in maintaining a protein-rich diet, which suits her well. She humorously added, “I’m a Texas girl, so I like meat — sorry, vegetarians in the world!”
Currently residing in New York City, Clarkson leads an active lifestyle contrary to being sedentary. She admitted, “Walking in the city is quite the workout.” Additionally, she mentioned her current interest in infrared saunas and revealed that she recently acquired a cold plunge, explaining, “And I just got a cold plunge because everybody wore me down.”
With her children, 9-year-old River Rose and 7-year-old Remington Alexander, Clarkson shared that they engage in various activities. She mentioned, “We’ll go walk the dogs a few times at the park.”
Clarkson also humorously added, “We’ll go for ice cream because my daughter will wear me down. We’ll go make slime, and we go to the museum.” This gives a glimpse into their life in the bustling city.
Following a challenging divorce with ex-husband Brandon Blackstock, Clarkson opted to leave Los Angeles and relocate her family to the opposite coast. Speaking to the outlet, she explained, “I was very unhappy in LA and had been for several years.
I needed a fresh start.” Clarkson shared that she communicated with NBC, the network airing her talk show, “The Kelly Clarkson Show,” about the decision, stating, “We told NBC, ‘I’m not trying to sound ungrateful, I just can’t stay here anymore for my mental health; for me and my kids.’ They weren’t doing well either.” This move was driven by considerations for both her own well-being and that of her children.
