Britt continues to build a national profile despite never holding elected office before her election in the 2022 midterms
Comedian Jimmy Kimmel took a jab at Sen. Katie Britt, R-Ala., during his hosting of the 96th Oscars awards ceremony on Sunday.
“Emma Stone is an Oscar nominee for a fifth time, right?” Kimmel said. “You were so unbelievably great in ‘Poor Things,'” he added, referring to the film featuring Stone that garnered multiple Oscar nominations, including for “Best Picture” and “Best Director.”
“Emma played an adult woman with the brain of a child, like the lady who gave the rebuttal to the State of the Union on Thursday night,” Kimmel joked.
Sen. Katie Britt faced online criticism after delivering the Republican response to President Biden’s State of the Union address on Thursday. During her speech, she criticized the president for his handling of the border crisis and his economic policies, which she referred to as “Bidenomics,” highlighting the increasing consumer costs affecting American families.
Actress Scarlett Johansson parodied Katie Britt on “Saturday Night Live.”
“My name is Katie Britt, and I am privileged to represent the wonderful people of Alabama,” Johansson joked on SNL. “But tonight, I’ll be trying out the role of the scary mom, and I’ll be presenting an original monologue titled ‘This Country is Hell.'”

“You see, I’m not just a senator. I’m a wife, a mother, and the craziest b—- in the Target parking lot,” Johansson continued. “I’m concerned about our children’s future. That’s why I’ve brought you into this strange, empty kitchen because Republicans think women voters are drawn to kitchens.”
The actress poked fun at Britt’s cross necklace and the Republican senator’s mention of the border crisis.
Britt has reaffirmed her criticism of President Biden’s leadership.
“You think about the parents whose children have died of fentanyl poisoning. Enough is enough, and the president needs to take responsibility,” the senator stated during an appearance on “Fox & Friends” on Friday. “He knows what needs to be done. President Trump outlined a plan to secure our border and enhance our country’s safety, but he refuses to act on it.”
Despite never holding elected office before her election in the 2022 midterms, Britt continues to gain national attention.
Britt’s office did not respond immediately to a request for comment from US Newzs Digital.
