‘I don’t condemn Hamas,’ Egyptian aid worker Aya Hijazi freed by Trump says

Then-President Trump boasted about freeing Aya Hijazi in 2017, saying Obama ‘worked on it for three years, got zippo, zero’

Aya Hijazi, who was recently released from an Egyptian prison with the help of the Trump administration in 2017, took to social media to express her support for Hamas.

“I find it morally repugnant to condemn Hamas,” she posted on X on Nov. 7, following their terrorist attack on Israel that claimed more than 1,200 lives. In her message, she said, “I do not condemn Hamas and I refuse to condemn the Palestinians who have exhausted every peaceful means available to end their occupation and save their lives.

“Furthermore, Hijazi denied anyone was encouraging the world to condemn Hamas.

“You exhibit a morally repugnant double standard—one for whites and one for everyone else. Your standards for occupation, land theft, siege, and mass murder do not apply to me.”

In 2017, Trump and his aides launched an undisclosed diplomatic effort to secure Aya Hijazi’s release after efforts by the Obama administration failed. At the age of 30, Hijazi was freed after spending three years in an Egyptian prison on charges of human trafficking and alleged links to the radical Islamist group the Muslim Brotherhood.

“I have petitioned the government to release her,” Trump told The Associated Press at the time. “You know, Obama worked on it for three years, got nothing, zero,” he remarked.

In May 2018, pro-Trump influencers Charlie Kirk and Scott Pressler highlighted Aya Hijazi while praising the prisoners released by Trump.

In recent weeks, Hijazi’s social media accounts have been filled with posts supporting Hamas and the Palestinians while criticizing Israel.

Hussain Abdul-Hussein, a research fellow at the Foundation for Defense of Democracies, commented on Hijazi’s actions, stating, “There is no gratitude in the world that Hijazi showed to his country that came to her rescue.” Via US Newzs Digital.

“Hijazi’s venomous posts on X are not only against the U.S., but the West as a whole, often portraying it as a white colonial man,” Hussain added. “If these Western principles—life, liberty, and equality—had not spread throughout the world, the Hijazi might have been confined to her father’s home, married shortly after puberty, and once again confined to her husband. The home, bearing many children, and running the household.”

“Without Western ideas, Hijazi would have been illiterate, her voice never reaching beyond her family. Her U.S. citizenship played a key role in inspiring the leader of the free world to advocate for her freedom and eventually welcome her like royalty in the Oval Office,” Hussain continued.

Despite endorsing Biden for president in 2020 and insisting that Trump’s efforts to secure her freedom were driven by his “ego,” Hijazi recently withdrew her support for Biden. In a recent social media post, she called him “Genocide Joe” and declared that there was “no way on earth” that she would vote for him again, citing his current support for Israel.

Cynthia Farahat, author of “The Secret Apparatus: The Muslim Brotherhood’s Industry of Death,” told US Newzs Digital that Aya Hijazi’s pro-Hamas stance should come as no surprise.

According to Farahat, Hijazi supports the Muslim Brotherhood, and her comments are often displayed positively on the Brotherhood’s official website, a practice usually reserved for its overt and undercover members and agents.

“Hamas is recognized as the Palestinian branch of the Muslim Brotherhood, forming a de facto community rather than an ideology. This affiliation explains why Aya Hijazi has steadfastly supported them, even in the face of their horrific crimes against humanity, such as the recent barbaric terrorist attack against Israel.”

Aya Hijazi, a dual national born in Egypt and raised in Falls Church, Virginia, earned a degree in conflict resolution from George Mason University in 2009. According to her LinkedIn profile, she received her Master of Public Administration (MPA) from Harvard University. 2021. She spent 5 months as a “leadership coach” at Harvard, focusing on anti-black racism and sexism.

Farahat told US Newzs Digital that the Trump administration was “not aware of her affiliation” with the Muslim Brotherhood and “acted on bad intelligence.”

Hussein, who is of Iraqi and Lebanese descent and spent time growing up and working there, told US Newzs Digital, “Even if we knew, we put her freedom ahead of her political affiliations. We argued that even though she was in the Muslim Brotherhood, she should listen.”

“But it turns out we were wrong. These Islamists aren’t interested in making a point; they’re after inciting violence. They don’t argue. They spew venom at America and the West. When you read her X posts, you wonder: She’s actually pledging allegiance to the flag and the Constitution. Grown-up? Because if she did, it wouldn’t really show in her posts.”

In a statement to US Newzs Digital, Hijazi expressed gratitude for being released by the United States and for the dignified treatment she received. However, she also expressed her heartbreak, stating that gratitude should not equate to silence on issues such as genocide and colonialism.

Hijazi Abdul-Hussain responded to the comment, describing it as a “heartbreaking stereotype”. She pointed out that all of her cousins in Egypt were college-educated and chose their spouses based on personal preference.

Hijazi continued, “Of course, I have important criticisms of the vices of white supremacy, especially colonialism and foreign policy.” “At the same time, a significant portion of my time and life’s work has been devoted to critiquing brown/Muslim/male practices. I do not subscribe to the notion that any group, including one’s own, is above criticism.”

US Newzs Digital reached out to the Trump campaign for comment but did not receive a response.
