“If searches were blocked or questions were restricted, the account could confirm the worst suspicions about this investigation,” Turley said.
George Washington University law professor Jonathan Turley warned that if “half” of the IRS whistleblowers‘ claims are true, the “integrity and credibility” of Hunter Biden’s tax evasion investigation will be severely damaged.
Turley told Fox News Digital that Americans should “remember that allegations are not proof” and that whistleblowers’ claims are “unverified but clearly worthy of investigation.”
DOJ, FBI, IRS interfered in Hunter Biden probe, according to whistleblower testimony released by GOP
However, if even partially accurate, the allegations undermine credibility in the investigation into Hunter Biden’s taxes.
“If even half of these allegations are proven to be true, the integrity and credibility of the investigation will be severely damaged,” Turley warned. “At least, these are questions that need to be answered.”
“Notably, some of this evidence comes from statements made to Congress under the threat of prosecution if false,” he said. “The alleged push for convictions is also significant because whistleblowers may have had direct involvement or knowledge of the basis for the allegations.”
“If searches are blocked or queries are restricted, the account could confirm the worst suspicions about this investigation,” Turley added.
Turley’s comments came amid damning allegations from IRS whistleblowers about the young Biden’s tax evasion investigation.
Despite objections from FBI and IRS officials, Justice Department investigators are “trying to limit” questions about President Biden as part of the investigation into Hunter Biden, a whistleblower has alleged.
The House Ways and Means Committee on Thursday released testimony from two IRS whistleblowers alleging that Justice Department, FBI, and IRS officials interfered in the tax evasion investigation against Hunter Biden. Whistleblowers said the decisions in the case appeared to be “politically influenced”.
One whistleblower, Gary Shapley Jr., a supervisor of investigations at the IRS, said that “at every stage” of the investigation, decisions were made that “had a beneficial effect on the subject matter of the investigation.” He cited several examples with clear references to Hunter Biden’s father.
Shapley pointed to text messages and emails obtained from Hunter Biden’s former business partner Tony Bobulinsky, Fox News Digital reported, before the 2020 presidential election and before Hunter Biden knew he was under federal investigation.
In December 2020, Shapley said investigators were preparing to interview Biden business associate Rob Walker.
“Among other things, we wanted to question Walker about an email that read: ‘Managed by H for Ten Big Man,'” Shapley said. “We have obvious questions like who is the H, who is the big guy and why should this percentage be kept separate by hiding the association.”
But Assistant U.S. Shapley said attorney Leslie Wolfe “went through the afternoon and stated that she didn’t want to ask about the big guy and didn’t want to ask questions about ‘daddy’.”
Joe Biden is reportedly called a “big man.”
“When several people in the room spoke up and objected to us asking, she responded, ‘There’s no specific offense to that question,'” Shapley said. “It also baffled the FBI.”
“Everybody in the room except the prosecutors has a big problem,” Shapley said, with the president not asking questions about Biden.
