Florida family arrested in connection with father’s murder

Three suspects, including the victim’s wife, have been charged with tampering with evidence

Authorities announced last week that three family members were arrested in connection with the homicide investigation of a Florida man who was found murdered in July 2021.

The Dixie County Sheriff’s Office revealed that David Rainey’s wife, Cindy Rainey, reported him missing on the morning of July 25, 2021.

The Rainey couple, along with their family from Flagler County on the opposite side of the state, were vacationing in the town of Suwannee when the 54-year-old man was reported missing.

After David Rainey was reported missing, investigators from the Dixie County Sheriff’s Office began a missing person investigation.

Tragically, that same evening, they found the lifeless body of David Rainey in the canal behind the residence the family had rented.

Authorities revealed that Rainey suffered multiple stab wounds to his chest and was placed in water after his death, leading to his death being classified as a homicide. Two years later, three members of Rainey’s family were arrested in connection with his murder.

On October 25, 2023, Dixie County investigators traveled to Bunnell, Florida, where they arrested Cindy and Bailey Rainey with the assistance of the Flagler County Sheriff’s Office.

Subsequently, investigators traveled to Orlando, Florida, where they arrested Jack Rainey with support from the Orange County Sheriff’s Office.

All three accused were charged with tampering with evidence. However, it was not specified whether any of them were charged with murder.

The Dixie County State’s Attorney’s Office did not immediately respond to inquiries from Fox News Digital about the allegations.
