Donald Trump Jr. doesn’t want a role in his father’s administration if the former president is re-elected in November, but he does want “veto power over RINOs” — short for establishment-leaning “Republicans in name only” — and to “stop the bad guys” from getting into positions of power, he told Fox News Digital.
Trump Jr. said he’s also excited that Republican Ohio Sen. JD Vance, his father’s newly named running mate, can “carry this movement on for generations to come.”
Trump Jr. spoke exclusively to Fox News Digital on Tuesday afternoon. Trump’s eldest son is scheduled to appear on “Hannity” Tuesday night.
Trump Jr. chose Vance on his father’s ticket because Vance was “a great America First patriot.”
“I think he’s someone who believes in that mission — he’s not a Washington D.C. neocon warmonger, and I think that’s critical,” he told Fox News Digital. “I love having a young, articulate, energetic person as someone who can help continue this movement for generations to come — I think it’s so fundamental and so important.”
Trump Jr. said he trusted Vance “as a businessman, a politician, and one of the most articulate fighters against the insanity on the other side.”
“He does a better job in hostile media territory than our best people,” he said. “I think it’s critical to moving the movement forward, and I think he’s going to do a great job as vice president.”
Unlike his sister Ivanka Trump, who served as a senior adviser, Trump Jr. did not have an official role in his father’s first administration.
Asked if he would have a role in a potential second Trump administration, Trump told Fox News Digital: “No.”
“I don’t want a role in the administration — I don’t want to do that,” he said. “The only role I want is to put our people in other positions of power. I want to keep the bad guys out of those positions of power. That’s what I want.”
He said: “I want to veto RINOs. I want to have veto power over RINOs. That’s all I’m asking.”
Trump Jr. said he was “excited” for a second Trump administration.
“I’m excited about it. This time, we go in, we know what we’re doing. We know who the snakes are. We know how to deal with the bad guys,” he said. “I think we can get up and running pretty quickly, and I think everybody understands that too — and that’s why, I think, they tried very aggressively to try to interrogate my father and go after him and attack him and bankrupt him. And if that didn’t work, they put him in jail. will try to put.”
When asked about special counsel Jack Smith’s declassification of the classified records case against President Trump; Supreme Court Ruling on Presidential Immunity – It’s Positive for Former President; the delay in his sentencing in New York v. Trump; And a break in the Georgia election case, Trump Jr. told Fox News Digital: “We’re not going to stop winning.”
He said he thinks Democrats are “scared” of Trump’s knowledge of Washington and experience from his first term.
“They fear that he will come with knowledge and experience and that he will be a more effective leader than he was the first time – and I thought he was very effective,” he said.
Asked to reflect on his father’s assassination attempt at a rally in Butler, Pa., on Saturday, Trump Jr. said his father was “doing great.”
“He’s powerful, obviously very heavy and depressing, but when I walk around the floor here, I see a unity that I’ve never seen before,” he said. “I see great people who understand the gravity of the situation, but also understand what’s going on and what’s going on in our country, and they’re willing to get involved and bring it back.”
