On July 29, the Biden-Harris ticket will host a fundraiser in Martha’s Vineyard, Massachusetts, featuring special guests such as talk show legend David Letterman and Hawaii Governor Josh Green. Both President Biden and First Lady Jill Biden are expected to attend. Governor Green, a close personal friend of the Bidens and a key political ally, has been the governor of Hawaii since 2022.
According to Axios, Biden is organizing his travel plans while recovering from COVID-19 at his Delaware beach house in Rehoboth.
Despite mounting pressure from his party to step down, Biden’s communications team held a remote press conference on Saturday to advocate for a second term.
The push for Biden to withdraw from the race has gained traction, with over 30 Democratic congress members, including Senator Sherrod Brown (D-Ohio), urging him to end his campaign. Brown emphasized the need to focus on pressing national issues.
A senior Democratic official described the situation as “stuck,” though there remains hope for resolution. Senior party members continue to urge Biden to make a definitive decision over the weekend, while internal debates persist among Biden’s advisers. One Biden aide acknowledged the sentiment within the party, noting that although some key supporters remain, the consensus is that the campaign has reached a critical juncture.
As the DNC prepares for the early roll call, the future of Biden’s candidacy hangs in the balance, with party leaders and supporters eagerly awaiting his decision.
