An Oversight Committee aide told US Newzs Digital the panel will take ‘further action’ in the coming days
The House’s impeachment inquiry into President Biden will persist at full throttle, with additional measures anticipated in the upcoming days. This is happening even as uncertainty looms over the identity of the next Speaker of the House of Representatives following the removal of Rep. Kevin McCarthy, according to information obtained by US Newzs Digital.
R-Calif.’s McCarthy, who held the position of House Speaker from late January to October, made history as the first person in United States history to be voted out of the post. He threw his support behind the commencement of an impeachment inquiry against the President last month, following several months of GOP-led investigations into the President’s family business affairs and potential involvement.
House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jim Jordan, R-Ohio; House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer, R-Ky.; and House Ways & Means Committee Chairman Jason Smith, R-Mo. were assigned by McCarthy to spearhead the impeachment inquiry.
Nevertheless, despite McCarthy’s removal, their investigations are projected to persist.
“Full steam ahead,” affirmed a senior Judiciary Committee aide to US Newzs Digital.
Jordan declared his candidacy for Speaker of the House on Wednesday morning, shortly after McCarthy’s removal.
Additionally, an Oversight Committee spokesperson informed US Newzs Digital that the committee’s activities are ongoing.
“The committee is in the process of reviewing documents, records, and communications and will proceed with further actions in the coming days,” stated the Oversight spokesperson.
A spokesperson for the Ways & Means Committee expressed a similar sentiment.
“The Ways and Means Committee remains dedicated to pursuing the facts wherever the evidence leads,” the spokesperson conveyed to US News Digital.
Despite the vacancy in the Speaker position, subpoenas that were previously issued by committees as part of the impeachment inquiry, such as those for Hunter Biden and James Biden’s personal and business bank records, as well as those issued for general oversight of the Biden administration, remain legally binding.
The next phase of the investigation follows the committees’ inaugural joint-panel impeachment inquiry hearing held last week.
According to GOP lawmakers, the financial records acquired by the Oversight Committee thus far “expose a consistent pattern in which the Bidens traded access to Joe Biden globally to benefit the Biden family.”
As initially reported by US News Digital, the House Oversight Committee has uncovered that the Biden family and their business associates generated over $24 million between 2014 and 2019 by marketing Joe Biden as a global brand.
The impeachment inquiry’s scope encompasses the period from Biden’s vice presidency to the present, including his time out of office.
In addition to scrutinizing Biden’s connections to his family’s business ventures, House Republicans are also looking into the alleged hindrance of the Justice Department’s lengthy federal investigation into Hunter Biden. These allegations arise from IRS whistleblowers who claim that political considerations influenced prosecutorial decisions throughout the inquiry.
The White House’s official stance is that President Biden was never involved in business dealings with his son, nor did he engage in discussions related to business with his son or family. White House officials have criticized the impeachment inquiry against the president, characterizing it as a politically motivated move devoid of substantive evidence.
