Country star Darius Rucker was arrested in Tennessee for a minor drug offense, as reported by US Newzs Digital.

The 57-year-old singer was taken into custody on Thursday in Williamson County, Tennessee, according to a public information officer from the Williamson County Sheriff’s Office.

Rucker was arrested on two counts of simple possession/casual exchange of a controlled substance and one count of violating the state’s vehicle registration law.

A high-profile deepfake victim is Taylor Swift.

He was booked in the Williamson County Jail at approximately 1 p.m. and was released on $10,500 bond about an hour later.

Rucker’s attorney, Mark Puryear, stated US Newzs Digital following his client’s arrest.

“Darius Rucker is fully cooperating with authorities related to misdemeanor charges,” Puryear said.

In December, Rucker was honored with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. The Grammy-winning country star also marked the release of his eighth solo album, “Carolyn’s Boy,” in 2023. The album serves as a tribute to his late mother.

Rucker, who achieved success in the country music industry after leading Hootie & the Blowfish for more than three decades, expressed to US Newzs Digital that he doesn’t believe he has truly reached the pinnacle of his career.

“I think the thing that keeps me working so hard is I always feel like I haven’t done enough,” he said.

Rucker also disclosed to People magazine last year that his two youngest children are interested in following in his footsteps, despite him jokingly expressing his desire for them to pursue careers as doctors or lawyers.

The singer and his ex-wife share two children, Daniela and Jack, and Rucker has a daughter, Carolyn, from a previous relationship.

He mentioned that despite his success and fame, his children still perceive him as a typical dad.

“They truly don’t give a s— what I do for a living. I’m nothing special. I’m their dad,” he shared with the outlet. Rucker added, “They love my music, and they think it’s cool, but they’ll still be at a show, and I’ll walk out of the back of my bus, and they’ll go, ‘Dad, are you going to wear that?’ They love letting me know that I’m a dork, and I love them for it.”

During the interview, Rucker opened up about his separation from his wife of 20 years, Beth Leonard.

“That stuff hurts, and you feel like a failure,” Rucker told People about their split. “But we’re still a family. A piece of paper is not going to change that.”

Rucker noted that they’re “not officially divorced yet.”

“We’re still a family, and that’s all because Beth is awesome,” he said. “She knows it’s the best for the kids, and she’s a great human being.”
