Trump’s 2024 campaign reported only $30 million cash on hand compared to Biden’s $130 million
During a “CNN News Central segment,” political contributor Paul Begala sparked laughter from network anchor Kate Bolduan and guest S.E. Cupp with his jokes about former President Trump.
Begala began by quipping, “Biden’s path to victory is simple: he needs to focus on seven things. And I’ve got them all memorized, Kate. They’re in alphabetical order: Attack, attack, attack, attack, attack, attack, attack.”
The unexpected punchline amused the women, who had initially anticipated a serious list but found themselves caught up in Begala’s comedic setup.
Begala then highlighted the stark contrast in fundraising between Biden’s campaign and Trump’s, drawing a comparison with the lyrics of the song “Mo’ Money, Mo’ Problems” by The Notorious B.I.G., also known as Biggie Smalls.
“The Biden campaign is pulling in remarkable amounts of money. Last year alone, the Democratic Party raked in $120 million, while the Republicans only managed $82 million. Democrats currently have $21 million in cash reserves, whereas Republicans are left with…well, only eight. This is one of those moments, Kate, where I have to disagree with Biggie. It’s not ‘Mo’ Money, Mo’ Problems,’ it’s ‘No money, mo’ problems,'” Begala quipped.
Cupp and Bolduan burst into laughter at Begala’s remarks and struggled to contain themselves as he continued.
“Imagine Donald Trump trying to tighten his belt. What’s he going to do, go down to a size 64 triple XL? That’s not a belt you want to cinch too tight. And it’s certainly bad news for the porn star community,” Begala quipped further.
“I’m at a loss!” Bolduan exclaimed amidst the laughter. “I’m here to help inform America, and I’m just being bombarded. I don’t even know what to do with my face half the time!”
“What just happened?” Cupp questioned, still amused by the exchange.
“What just happened is we finally got it,” Bolduan remarked. “We’ve got Paul Begala’s seven-step plan for taking me down: attack, attack, attack, attack, attack, attack. And Paul, we all love you.”
“We love you, Paul,” Cupp chimed in simultaneously. “That wasn’t planned. We genuinely love Paul.”
“I’m calling it quits. I’m done,” Bolduan declared as the laughter began to subside, handing over to the next anchor, Sara Sidner, who joined in the joking and laughter about Biggie Smalls.
Bolduan, now overwhelmed, pleaded, “Sara, please take it from here.”
In February, the Biden campaign announced that it had raised over $42 million in January, boasting a total cash-on-hand of $130 million across all its joint-fundraising committees. This figure is being hailed by the president’s re-election team as “the highest total amassed by any Democratic candidate in history” at this stage of the election cycle.
In comparison, the Trump campaign reported just $30 million in cash on hand at the end of January. Despite holding a significant lead in polls, Trump’s fundraising entities fell short by nearly $2.5 million compared to Nikki Haley’s campaign.
“It’s been a challenging couple of weeks for Donald Trump, especially if you value financial stability,” remarked Biden campaign official Ammar Moussa to US Newzs Digital. “The RNC experienced its poorest fundraising year in decades, facing a significant loss of funds. Now, Trump heads into the general election with the most feeble operation in recent history.”
