In an op-ed for the British Daily Mail, Johnson praised Trump’s ‘indomitable spirit’ after the assassination attempt
Former U.K. Prime Minister Boris Johnson has publicly endorsed Donald Trump for the 2024 U.S. presidential election.
In an op-ed for the Daily Mail on Friday, Johnson praised Trump as the leader the world needs, stating, “The world is at a crossroads.”

Johnson’s endorsement came after an assassination attempt on Trump, which Johnson mentioned to highlight Trump’s resilience. He wrote, “I believe that indomitable spirit is exactly what the world needs right now, and exactly what is needed in the White House.”
The former prime minister emphasized the urgent global conflicts, including those in Ukraine, the Middle East, Europe, and Taiwan.
He argued that Trump has the necessary strength and courage to address these issues, saying, “Having talked to Donald Trump this week, I am more convinced than ever that he has the strength and the bravery to fix it, to save Ukraine, to bring peace — and to stop the disastrous contagion of conflict.” Johnson also stressed the importance of Ukraine’s victory over Russia, stating, “I believe that Trump can end it.”
Johnson proposed that Trump could broker a peace deal that ensures Ukraine’s sovereignty and independence while addressing Russian President Vladimir Putin’s ambitions.
He suggested a “two-stage approach” for this process and emphasized that Trump’s potential administration would need to demonstrate strong international leadership.
“Washington under Trump will have to show that international borders must be respected and that the Soviet empire cannot be rebuilt by force,” Johnson wrote.
Johnson believes that if Trump returns to power, he has the opportunity not only to rectify his predecessor’s policies but also to advance global stability.
“Donald Trump can see the risk: that a defeat for Ukraine would exact a huge long-term cost on America and the world,” Johnson said. He added that Trump’s response to the assassination attempt demonstrated he has the “mettle for the job.”
The assassination attempt on Trump occurred in Butler, Pennsylvania, where a bullet grazed his ear.
The Secret Service quickly intervened to protect him. Unfortunately, one rally attendee was killed and two others were critically injured. The shooter, Thomas Matthew Crooks, was killed by Secret Service agents.
