Border crisis benefits illegals over Americans Texas Mayra Flores

Former Republican Rep. Mayra Flores, who is running to reclaim her former seat in Texas’ 34th Congressional District from Democrat Rep. Vicente Gonzalez, has expressed concern about declining support for President Biden in Texas’ Hispanic border areas. In a recent interview with Fox News Digital, Flores highlighted that the immigration crisis, which appears to favor illegal immigrants over American citizens, has contributed to this decline in support.

As “thousands and thousands” of immigrants continue to pour into border towns across the United States, Flores emphasized that crime rates are rising. In addition, she pointed out that the country’s challenging economic conditions are hitting US citizens in these regions particularly hard. Because funds that would otherwise be allocated to support local communities are being diverted to address the flow of migrants entering the country.

She stated, “This region is one of the most economically disadvantaged regions in the country, yet resources are being allocated to address the humanitarian crisis, with no reimbursement to the people of South Texas. If this problem creates major devastation in a city like New York, the largest in the nation, and the mayor of New York is warning of its potential devastation, then South Texas Why should we expect small towns to cope with the daily flow of thousands of migrants crossing the border illegally?”

Highlighting the daily number of migrants entering the country, Flores also drew attention to the simultaneous rise in crime, as criminals took advantage of the opportunity presented by the increased number of people crossing the border.

“Two weeks ago, I had the opportunity to visit Brownsville with a group of 50 women who voted for President Biden in 2020. Surprisingly, not one of them planned to vote for Biden in the upcoming 2024 election. Only one of the 50 women,” she said. When I asked about the reasons, the overwhelming response with 80% agreement was attributed to concerns about the financial situation. They expressed that the economic situation will force them to vote for the Republican candidate in 2024. .”

“However, a significant majority also pointed to the humanitarian crisis as a major factor. They perceived that newcomers to the country were being prioritized over those with longstanding ties to America. Even though these people were also American citizens, many had been part of this country for 20 to 30 years, and their needs were ignored.” “I feel ignored,” she continued.

“They note that comprehensive aid is available to those entering the country illegally, but Hispanic voters, struggling with the challenges of paying rent, putting food on the table, and dealing with high gasoline prices, are feeling economic pressure. Attitudes affect their decision-making, aligning themselves more with the Republican Party, She concluded.

Flores argues that the shift toward Republican support in the region can only be attributed to the border crisis and its economic consequences; She emphasizes the importance of “values” in shaping this transformation. She expressed concern that parents who resisted such policies could remove children from their homes, pointing to democratic attitudes that perceived threats to parents who disapproved of gender ideologies. She asserts that this serves as another important factor driving voters toward the GOP.

Additionally, Flores noted that many of the people she spoke to were particularly uninformed about the Republican presidential race and the candidates vying for the nomination. Instead, the majority sees the 2024 election as a choice between President Biden and former President Donald Trump.

She noted, “Everybody said they intend to vote for [Trump]. While some expressed reservations, they remember his time in office, highlighting the strong economy during his tenure. They’ve been able to manage. Their finances are satisfactory every month.” In addition, these voters not only supported his candidacy but also supported former President Trump, underscoring his appeal based on his economic achievements during his presidency.

Asked about Hispanic voters’ attitudes toward Trump and whether their votes could be key in a hypothetical matchup between Trump and Biden, Flores expressed her belief that Hispanic voters could help Trump win.

“I definitely think so,” she emphasized, “especially in my district alone, where I’ve seen overwhelming support for him. It’s because they remember what happened before Biden. When they elected Biden, they were uncertain. What was going to happen, but now they have a clear understanding.”

Flores, who lost to Gonzalez in the 2022 midterms, explained her decision to run again by citing her ongoing commitment to advocating for the people of South Texas.

“I have a deep love for my community. I have noticed that things have deteriorated significantly since last year. I honestly did not expect things to get worse, but unfortunately, they are not only at the border but also in terms of the economy,” she lamented. “My affection for this community is very deep and I cannot give it up. That is why I will continue to fight tirelessly for this region.”

If elected, Flores has emphasized that one of his primary priorities will be to combat child sex trafficking and rid the United States of being the epicenter of this brutal activity.

“I am determined to change our status and remove us from that list,” she asserted. “I believe it is critical that we collaborate to end child sex trafficking. This is something I am very passionate about.”

Flores addressed the concerns of the current administration, “Under this administration, 87,000 children are missing and unaccounted for. My focus will be on locating these children and reuniting them with their families. The trauma and abuse many of them are currently experiencing.”
