The White House faced criticism on Saturday after reports that Hunter Biden traveled to Camp David with his father amid explosive allegations of political corruption by a whistleblower. This comes after Hunter Biden recently pleaded guilty to federal tax charges and agreed to a plea deal on a felony firearms charge.

On Thursday, the House Ways and Means Committee released their interview with an IRS whistleblower from last month. The whistleblower shared a 2017 WhatsApp message in which Hunter Biden informed Chinese business associate Henry Zhao that he and his father would ensure consequences if their commitment was not met.

The message, provided by IRS whistleblower Gary Shapley, read, “I’m sitting here with my dad, and we want to understand why the commitment wasn’t fulfilled. And, Z, if I get a call or text from anyone I’m involved with, you, not Zhang or the chairman, are sitting next to me. Between the guy and everyone he knows and my ability to hold a grudge forever, I’ll make sure you regret not following my direction.”

Conservatives took to Twitter and pointed out the proximity between the recent revelations and the father and son’s joint visit to Camp David.

Americans guilty of charges similar to Hunter never got ‘sweetheart’ deal to keep them from prison: critics

Judicial Watch President Tom Fitton tweeted, “This week, federal government whistleblowers exposed significant DOJ/FBI corruption and obstruction to protect Hunter and the Biden family. And what does the Biden administration do? They announce a plea deal favorable to Hunter. Then send him to the White House for a state dinner. Invite, then go camping David for a weekend.”

“COLLUSION: Hunter and Joe Biden retreated to Camp David with their lawyers for the weekend,” tweeted @amuse, a prominent Substack writer. “Will Biden throw his son overboard to save his presidency?” “Lots of business to discuss?” GOP communicator Steve Guest tweeted.

“Discuss with lots of business?” Goop communicator Steve Guest tweeted.

Amazing. Taking a tax cheat and gun felon with him on a trip where he will be discussing high-level international events. But also, does Hunter live with Joe now or something?

“Strange to go to Camp David for such a short time,” New York Post columnist Miranda Devine tweeted. “Maybe to have confidential discussions with unknown legal advisers in a heavily guarded place away from prying eyes.”

President Biden has consistently maintained that he has never discussed foreign business deals with his son, despite evidence suggesting that he has met with several individuals involved in Hunter Biden’s business ventures.

The whistleblower’s testimony comes two days after Hunter Biden struck a deal with the Justice Department, which is headed by his father. Under the agreement, Hunter Biden pleaded guilty to two misdemeanor counts of failing to pay federal income taxes on at least $3 million in earnings from foreign business transactions. In addition, he agreed to participate in a pretrial diversion program related to a separate charge of possession of a firearm as an unlawful user or addict of a controlled substance.

“Stick to his routine, Biden leaves the White House for a weekend at Camp David amid ongoing unrest in Russia,” journalist Charlie Spearing tweeted. “Hunter Biden was also seen boarding Marine One with him.”

Accompanied by his father to Camp David, Hunter Biden was included on the guest list for Thursday evening’s White House state dinner, which was held in honor of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his spouse. Hunter Biden was pictured mingling with distinguished attendees.

When White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre faced an inquiry about Hunter’s presence as a guest on Friday, she responded, “I don’t delve into private family discussions.”

“As you know, Hunter is his son,” she added. “I won’t comment on that.”

A request for comment to the White House was not answered.
