At 9 pm ET, the FOX Business Network and Univision will broadcast the debate
The much-anticipated second Republican presidential primary debate will take place Wednesday night in California; Seven presidential hopefuls will battle for the GOP nomination.
Taking place at the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library in Simi Valley, California, the debate will air on FOX Business Network (FBN) and Univision from 9-11 p.m. ET.

White House contenders, listed alphabetically, are North Dakota Gov. Doug Burgum; former New Jersey Governor Chris Christie; Florida Governor Ron DeSantis; former South Carolina Governor Nikki Haley; former Vice President Mike Pence; biotech entrepreneur and political commentator Vivek Ramaswamy; and Sen. of South Carolina. Tim Scott.
At the center of the stage, you’ll find DeSantis, flanked by Haley and Ramaswamy.
Christie, who is making his second bid for the GOP presidential nomination, and Scott will stand alongside Haley and Ramaswamy. Meanwhile, on the wings of the debate stage, you’ll see Burgum and Pence.
According to a Republican National Committee (RNC) release from early June, the placement of qualified candidates on stage will be determined by polling, with the candidate polling highest placed in the center.
RNC Chairwoman Ronna McDaniel expressed that the second debate represents “another opportunity for the RNC to share our diverse field of candidates with the American people.”
She emphasized the unity of the Republican Party for the common goal of defeating Biden. McDaniel highlighted the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library as an ideal venue to present the party’s conservative vision for the future.
Candidates who want to participate in the second debate must meet polling and donor limits set by the RNC. Former Arkansas Gov. Asa Hutchinson, who qualified for the first debate in Milwaukee last month, did not qualify for Wednesday’s showdown. However, Hutchinson reaffirmed his commitment to continue his campaign.
Candidates in the debate must also commit to supporting the Republican presidential nominee.
Notably, former President Donald Trump, despite his significant lead in the Republican primary field, has not signed the pledge.
A recent Fox News poll revealed that 60% of Republican primary voters support Trump for the GOP nomination, up from 53% in a previous survey conducted in August.
DeSantis has 13% support, while Ramaswamy is at 11%. Meanwhile, Haley is polling at 5%, while Pence and Scott each have 3% support. Christie currently polls at 2%, with the rest of the GOP candidates receiving less than 1% support.
A recent Washington Post/ABC poll conducted over the weekend found former President Trump leading President Biden by 10 points in a general election survey of likely voters.
The poll indicates that President Biden’s approval rating currently stands at 37%, with 56% of respondents disapproving of his presidency.
Among those ineligible for the second debate and absent from the first debate stage were 2022 Michigan gubernatorial candidate Perry Johnson, former CIA agent and former Rep. Will Hurd of Texas, and Larry Elder, of nationally syndicated radio. A host of candidates running in California’s 2021 gubernatorial recall election.
