President Biden faced ridicule and skepticism across social media after he recounted an incident on Tuesday where he asserted that he had witnessed a bridge collapse in Pittsburgh the previous year.
While promoting his economic policies during a visit to Ingeteam, a wind turbine generator manufacturer in Milwaukee, Biden mentioned the collapse that occurred in 2022. He addressed the crowd, saying, “Many of you were there with me in Pittsburgh.” He went on to underline the abundance of bridges in Pittsburgh compared to any other American city.
In a further statement, he asserted, “I personally witnessed that bridge collapse,” and appended, “I was present when it collapsed from a height of over 200 feet, spanning a valley. The collapse occurred. Fortunately, the pandemic had led to school closures at the time.”

A video of Biden’s remarks quickly gained widespread attention on X, the platform formerly known as Twitter.
“It must have occurred on one of his extensive cross-country trucking trips,” joked former congressional candidate David Giglio, returning to another example of a story told by Biden.
