Cravin’ the Hunter
Tommy Hunter pitched two innings of scoreless relief with two strikeouts in the Mets’ 5-2 exhibition loss to the Astros in Port St. Lucie.
The veteran reliever, who is likely to open the season with the Mets, hasn’t allowed an earned run in his six appearances this spring.
Pham-ished
Tommy Pham’s spring training drought continued with an 0-for-3 performance with two strikeouts. Pham, who started in center field, is batting .154 in the Grapefruit League.
Caught my eye
Jimmy Yacabonis, who is vying for a bullpen job, had his first rough outing of the spring, allowing two runs on two hits and two walks in the fifth inning.
Thursday’s schedule
Mets pitching prospect Mike Vasil is scheduled to face the Braves in North Port, Fla.
