Within that audience, there were 58.8 million women, marking the highest number ever recorded for female viewership during a Super Bowl. This figure represented a 9% increase compared to the previous year, according to the New York Post. Additionally, women accounted for 47.5% of the total audience.
While Sunday’s Super Bowl benefited from several factors, including the participation of two well-known teams and an exciting overtime showdown, Swift’s presence unquestionably influenced the ratings.
The Chiefs rallied from a 10-point deficit in the first half to secure back-to-back Super Bowl victories, marking their third championship in the last five years.
With another Super Bowl victory, Patrick Mahomes joined an elite group of quarterbacks as just the sixth player to win three Super Bowls and only the third to earn three Super Bowl MVP awards.
Chiefs head coach Andy Reid also secured his third Super Bowl win, solidifying his status among the legends of the game.
Kansas City’s thrilling overtime triumph against the 49ers propelled Reid into a tie with Bill Walsh and Joe Gibbs for the second-most Super Bowl titles by a head coach. Reid now sits just three Super Bowl victories behind Bill Belichick’s record-setting six rings, and one behind Chuck Noll, who concluded his coaching career with four championships.
“He was already a Hall of Fame coach before tonight,” said Chiefs owner Clark Hunt, as reported by The Athletic. “But adding that third Super Bowl trophy in five years, I think solidifies his status as one of the best of all time.”
